Needing no introduction, this wonderful tree with a multitude of shapes and sizes is native to Queensland but has taken well to almost every corner of the continent.

The seeds need no special treatment and the trees grow quickly, initially but then slow to a pace more suited to a tree that will easily live to 100 years.

While it does retain water and will survive extreme drought, if it does not need to store much, it will grow taller and less squat.

While there are many uses for the tree, most require the disfigurement of the tree.

As an architectural form in the garden, they are unequalled.
